Choosing an insurance broker who can offer group health plans as well as individual health plans can directly affect your bottom line. Work with a company that has the experience, expertise and relationships with carriers to put together the best benefits package for your business and employees.
They may qualify for Medicare, don’t meet the federal hourly requirements as a full-time employee. They may have a pre-existing condition that makes their premiums extremely high. Or they may be former employees using COBRA. By removing those individuals from the group health plan and offering them affordable alternatives, you may be able to reduce your company premiums significantly.
They’re not obligated to buy medical coverage. They can opt out at any time. We can work with you to determine how best to handle these situations, ensuring fairness for the employee and compliance with federal and state regulations.
They can, but we can often save them a lot of time and money. Shopping for insurance products is time-consuming and can be overwhelming. Also, as an individual, your employee has no leverage. Because Berg Benefits shops around, negotiates with carriers and customizes medical benefit plans, we can usually get your employee better coverage for less.
When an employer makes an offer of coverage, employees are not obligated to enroll. If an enrolled employee has alternative insurance options through a spouse or dependent, we will advise on qualifying events to opt-out of coverage.
If you have 50 or more full-time employees (≥30 hrs/wk), federal rules require an offer of coverage that employees may accept or decline. Failure to offer coverage can result in costly penalties. It’s also important to consider that offering benefits exceeding federal regulations will help you to attract and retain quality employees.
